Title - Alachua County Opposes Coastal Connector Plan
Description – Florida legislature wants to build a large road called the Coastal Connector through Marion and Alachua counties. The counties have joined together in opposition.
Problem – State officials want to build a road crossing the state but landowners fear it require some of their land to be taken from them.
Who has the problem –Farm and landowners upon which the road will be built are some of the groups with this problem.

Title – Cox Announces Faster Internet in City
Description – Cox announced that it will be supporting gigabit download speeds in Gainesville. An example of the capability of this speed is that it can download a high definition movie in 60 seconds.
Problem – In order for Cox to provide gigabit Internet services their workers will have to lay out a new grid of cables. Traditional cable lines cannot support cable lines.
Who has the problem – The workers who have to lay numerous cable lines have this problem.

Title – Despite Rain, Roads Still Open
Description – despite the significant amount of rain that Gainesville has received, US Highway 441 that passes through Paynes Prairie will remain open.
Problem – The roads staying open creates a dangerous setting in which more people will likely have car accidents because of the wet roads.
Who has the problem – First responders and law enforcement will receive many more calls than they would have if the road was closed. It’s possible they will be overwhelmed by the volume of calls.

Title – Defending Champ Gators Top Seed in NCAA Tournament
Description – the Gators, who won the tournament the past season, have been placed as the number 1 seed in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
Problem – Being the number 1 seed has a lot of pressure that comes along with it. It is often that a number 1 seed will not win the tournament. This pressure could be the gator’s undoing.
Who has the problem – Fans might put too much pressure on the Gators thus causing them to fail. This problem affects the Gators and their fans.

Title -  Free meals being offered again this summer
Description – Free meals are being given out in Gainesville and Alachua county schools, community centers, and churches for children.
Problem – These free meals are great in the short term, however they do nothing to help these people in the long term
Who has the problem – the people of Gainesville and Alachua who are struggling to get back on their feet have this problem.
